I'm Addicted, You're Addicted, We're All Addicted.

This was a difficult world to survive in. It didn’t matter if you were rich or poor, successful or unknown, life was hard to deal with. Everyone had anxieties and pressures. Depression had never been so common place. Obesity was on the rise, and addiction was everywhere. People dealt with difficulties in different ways. Drugs were common, both prescription and illegal.drug treatmentThe word ‘drug’ was derived from the Dutch/German word ‘droog’, which translates as ‘dry’. This was because originally most drugs came from the part of plants that had been dried. Today, of course, we're so clever we can do it without the plants.
drug treatmentJeremiah had once been addicted to drugs. Alcohol and marijuana had been his favourites, along with surfing. That had taken up all his day, there was very little time left for anything else. He didn’t mind. He didn’t mind that he had three failed marriages, and two kids that he rarely saw. He didn’t mind that his house was a pig-sty, with dirty clothes on the floors, and empty bottles and cans lying around. The bathroom needed cleaning. The house needed cob webbing and dusting. He didn’t mind. His closest friend recognised the urgency and recommended drug rehab. Jeremiah was reluctant. He didn’t go. Slowly his liver was pickled and ceased to function. Slowly he committed the suicide that he sought. He ended his days after his stroke in an obscure room being cared for by uncaring people. He had self-medicated himself into obscurity and death.
